ION actually derives from surfing and water sports and is known as a manufacturer of technical-functional surfwear. For over ten years, wakeboarders, surfers and kiteboarders have been relying on wetsuits and neoprene parts from the label that has its head office not far from Munich. What works well in water, works well on land – with these beliefs, the developers and designers of ION decided to branch out into the world of bike fashion. Two years ago ION imitated the evolutionary transition that took place some 370 million years ago from water to land. Who’d have thought that the shore would create such waves?
ION – bike apparel with surf style
ION hit the ground, not running but pedalling awfully fast and directed its bike collection straight at bike parks and mountain bike routes. There’s a good reason though why it took off so well for this new to the cycling world brand: Unique styles with very cool surf designs along with practical details. Traze – for lady riders Grace – is ION’s functional collection of bike jerseys, durable shirts and comfortable bike shorts that have been designed to meet the varied demands of all-mountain bikers for strenuous climbs and fast descents. Roam and Lucid (girls) change down a gear and are more designed for everyday use and the sporty-casual style of riding – on the way to work or the uni for example, with the occasional ride to the bike park or spin on a trail.
Scrub und Slash – for the toughest of trails
Scrub is the apparel series for All-Mountain bikers. Fast-paced descents are harder and tougher on both fabrics and the person wearing them. ION has made a series of clothing with more stable and robust materials and a more athletic fit. Here and there an additional seam has been used, to ensure even more longevity. ION Scrub jerseys and shorts withstand gruelling bike routes, the occasional crash and move with your every movement.
Falling in next to the Scrubs series is the Slash collection. In every detail, ION has conjured up every experience and many years of working with clothing to bring together clothing and fabrics for those who push it to the limits. Downhill, tough freeriding, this is where the Slash series, with its robust and clever details, steps up to the mark.
