<p>German national parks - do they even exist? Much has been written about the national parks in the USA, everyone knows Yellowstone National Park, at least from hearsay, and some of the national parks in Alaska are larger than the whole of Switzerland. But in Germany? Yes, we also have national parks in Germany, not as large and spectacular as in the United States or South Africa, but beautiful and easy to reach by car or train, and highly recommended for hiking and cycling. There are now fourteen of these parks in Germany, the seven parks west of the Rostock-Munich line are presented in this book, including all practical information on accommodation and catering. The Eifel, Hainich, Kellerwald/Edersee and Harz National Parks, the Lower Saxony and Hamburg Wadden Sea and the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea are the stops on our journey. At the end, you should be delighted by our beautiful local nature, but also be somewhat thoughtful about the problems of nature conservation that you will be confronted with on this trip.</p> <p
