Description

Muzzerone: White rock faces directly above the blue sea border almost directly on the coastal strip with the UNESCO World Heritage Site Cinque Terre... The view stretches from Porto Venere over the island of Palmaria to the Apuan Alps and Corsica. Seagulls circle in the sky: it seems like a dream and yet it is reality.

You can climb here all year round until the sun sinks into the sea. There are short, rarely really extreme routes as well as excellent multi-pitch routes - and breathtaking views furthermore.

The new edition of this guide describes a magnificent and extraordinary climbing area with impressive photos (and videos via app) from a bird's eye view, which is only half an hour's walk or 10 minutes by car from the picturesque harbor town of Porto Venere.

Davide Battistella

(born in Venice in 1963) gained his first alpine climbing experience in 1978 in the Apuan Alps and the Dolomites. However, he first discovered his passion for sport climbing on the magnificent rock faces in Muzzerone. Here he set up new routes, scoring many very difficult lines and thus breaking new ground in the redpoint concept in this area too. In addition to climbing, he continued his studies in medicine and surgery, and between the various exams he also found time to demonstrate his climbing skills at the international climbing competitions in Bardonecchia with excellent results. He later trained the Italian national youth team, from which many robust climbers emerged. Davide is active in various organizations and clubs: since 1990 he has been a climbing coach for the CAI, at times also in its central training office. He is also still a FASI sports climbing coach, emergency doctor, member of the Italian Sports Medicine Association, President of the Blu Verticale Muzzerone Association and recently also a member of the FASI Board of Directors (quarter 2017 to 2020).

Davide Battistella | Muzzerone Climbing Guide | Edition 2017 | 224 pages | Softcover
